About Us

We met while working at Hill Air Force Base in June 2005 and Nic wooed Cassi with non-smoking breaks and mixed CDs. We got engaged in Cusco, Peru in 2011 and eloped to Mexico during the Mayan apocalypse in December 2012. We both love to travel and have been to Mexico, Canada, Costa Rica, Peru, Uruguay, Argentina, Haiti, South Africa, Kenya, and Ecuador together.
Cassi has a master’s degree in International and Intercultural Communication from the University of Denver and is a Haiti Adoption Consultant. She enjoys reading, hiking, jogging, and baking in her free time.
Nic has a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Utah and is an Environmental Consultant. He has been known to enjoy snowboarding, hiking, running (slowly), music, skydiving, parkour, sailing, Legos, and languages.
Max joined our family in August 2010 when he chose us at the pound in Denver. He is an 8-year-old husky who enjoys eating, sleeping, hunting, running, and playing.
In September 2013, we purchased Sloth, a 1982 Volkswagon Vangon Westfalia campervan. For extended scenic viewing time as well as speed trap invisibility, Sloth is equipped with a 1.9L diesel engine (sans turbo) that isn’t really powerful enough to haul this 5,300 lb beast uphill at normal highway speeds. Thusly named after both the animal (oso perezoso) for its sssssppppeeeeeeeeddd, and the lovable big beige dented beast from The Goonies.
